Female hygiene tips women in their 30s must know

  • Keep the undergarments dry. Do you often fail to dry your vagina after urinating? Then, you are doing it all wrong as this can wet your panties leaving you at a higher risk of vaginal infections and even bad odour. Thus, keep your underwear dry by wiping it down there with toilet paper or cloth.
  • Change sanitary pads after 4-6 hours, again not doing so can lead to allergies, infection, and bad odour. Avoid using a cloth and if you are using a tampon then consult your doctor before doing so and learn the right method of inserting it in the vagina.
  • Clean the vagina after intercourse without fail as it will help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs). Avoid using soap while washing your vagina as this can invite the growth of unhealthy bacteria and irritation. It is no brainer that soaps carry harmful chemicals and can be problematic for you. Moreover, opting for scented products down there is a strict no-no. Avoid douching and practice safe sex.
  • Unprotected sex can raise your risk of infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, herpes, warts, and syphilis. If your partner has sexually transmitted diseases then avoid intercourse for at least some time. Do not wear tight clothes. Instead of that wear skin-friendly breathable fabric. Cotton garments can be opted for. Wipe your vagina from the back and not from the front.
  • Remember not to rub too hard while wiping as it can cause skin irritation. Likewise, self-medication can be risky down there. Do not use any over-the-counter medication or ointment without informing your doctor.

Intimate hygiene is a must for all women and creates awareness amongst the women who are deprived of it. Education is vital when it comes to feminine hygiene. You likely learned about your body from sources like school, the Internet, BFFs, your mom, and though that is a good thing you may miss out on a few things. Maintaining a healthy diet can do the trick when it comes to your body and even the vagina. Foods like yoghurt are loaded with gut-friendly bacteria that help promote vaginal health. If you're prone to urinary tract infections, according to the research in Archives of Internal Medicine, taking a cranberry supplement daily can be helpful for sure.
